Hunter, our 9 year old yellow lab had battled a lifetime of allergies and was beginning to show signs of joint pain. We began researching what we could do to help relieve her issues and hopefully extend our time with her. Discovering the helpful world of raw feeding enthusiasts, we began making our own food for Hunter. Anyone who has done this understands how much work it is, and while we would do almost anything for her we also weren’t sure she was getting balanced, complete meals.
Back in 2014 finding any premade raw food at the pet store was unusual, and super unaffordable so we reached out to a family member who owns a pet store in Manitoba to see if he could help us get what we needed for our girl.
Long story short, we were put in touch with the incredible people at Perfectly Raw, a family run company creating affordable, complete, balanced and vet-approved premade raw pet food in Canada. We became a distributor (because our 2 dogs eat a lot, but not enough to ship pallets to the Sault!) and started selling the Perfectly Raw line of products to some friends and loyal customers.
Hunter crossed the rainbow bridge last fall at almost 15 years old after having more than 5 years of healthy skin and coat, much better mobility and better digestion. She left behind her best friend Fisher, a 7 year old black lab and room in our home and hearts this spring for Berkley, a new Chocolate puppy. Thanks to these 3 girls, and the customer experiences with cats and dogs of all different breeds and ages we’ve gained experience and are ready to help you transition from your pet’s “fast-food” processed kibble diet to a more species appropriate, healthy raw food that will support better long term health and fitness.
